William "Bill" Claude Johnson, 91, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 5:00 am on Saturday, March 8, at The Restoracy Of Goshen. He was born on April 14, 1933, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Theron and Lizabelle (Holle) Johnson. On July 31, 1954, in Goshen, he married Carol Vincent, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Denise Johnson of Goshen; two sons, Rodney Eugene (Katie) Johnson of Aurora, NE, Devon Allen (Ruby) Johnson of Roanoke, VA; seven grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and a brother, Theron "Ted" James (Sharon) Johnson of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis "D.J." Johnson. Bill had worked for Massey Ferguson until retiring after 25 years. He then worked for Gulfstream RVs for 10 years and had also made deliveries for Riegsecker Market Place for 14 years. He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Middlebury where he volunteered as a church trustee. He was very active at the Elkhart County 4H Fair and served as a leader and on the fair board for several years. He had served in the US Army for three years, where he was enlisted as a non-combatant and was assigned to do food inspection. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 11, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Wednesday, March 12, at First Mennonite Church, 203 E Lawrence St. Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastors Phil Yoder and Tim Eash. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to First Mennonite Church.
