Vera L. Eby, 99, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, at Hubbard Hill Estates.

She was born Dec. 11, 1916 in Elkhart County, to the late Warren and Ruth (Scheets) Nusbaum.

On Sept. 5, 1937, she married Wayne L. Eby. He preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2007.

Surviving are two nephews, Jeffrey (Christeena) Dinehart of Goshen, and Stephen Dinehart of Elkhart; four great-nieces, Melissa (Nate) Bontrager of Middlebury, April (Phil) Lantz of Goshen, Mardell (Adam) Baker of Syracuse, and Stephanie (Neil) Slabaugh of New Paris; one great-nephew, Tanner Dinehart of Cleveland, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews on the Eby side of the family.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Y. Eby; and a sister, Vada Dinehart.

Vera was a longtime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. She was an honorary Alumna of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, since November 2008 and she enjoyed reading and quilting. Vera was a homemaker and also a secretary to her husband Wayne for many years.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 1200 N. Michigan St., Elkhart. Funeral services for Vera will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Bethel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Keith McFarren will preside.

Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
