Velma L. (Eggleston) Yoder


Velma L. (Eggleston) Yoder, 89, Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart Hospice House Wednesday, Sept. 19.
She was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Osceola, to the late William and Ethel (Boyer) Eggleston.
Velma was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Brown, and 13 brothers and sisters.
She married Wayne K. Yoder Nov. 16, 1946, in Elkhart. He survives her.
She is also survived by sons, Steve Yoder and David (Dawn) Yoder, both of Elkhart, and Terry Yoder, Indianapolis; daughter Pat (John) Long, Goshen; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Velma worked part-time at Wilt's Supermarket and Fannie Mae Candy Store as well as being a homemaker. She was a great mother and housewife. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Visitation will take place Friday, Sept. 21, from 4-7 p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, Elkhart.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Blodgett officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
