Valerie D. Brown Obituary

Valerie D. Brown, a loving mother, grandmother, and wife passed away suddenly at 2:39 am on Friday February 7th 2025 at Elkhart General Hospital from a heart attack. She was 73, born February 14, 1951 to Dean R. and Margaret A. Campbell (Lyon).

She graduated Perry High School in 1969 and married Abner Brown Jr December 15, 1973. She had a servant's heart and her children are her legacy. Surviving is her husband Ab. Son and daughter in law Randy and Denise Newman. Grandsons Zack and Josh Newman. Son Ben Brown and grandsons Riley, Brenden, Maddox, Aiden and Greyson Brown. Daughter Angie Peters and grandson Danny Peters. Son Nick Brown and granddaughters Lexi, Bri, and Brooke Brown. Daughter and son in law Casey and Alex Dean and grandsons Theo, Perry, and Sam Dean. Sons Alex Brown and Anthony Brown. Dogs Nemo and Bonnie, and several cats. Also surviving are several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Scott Campbell.

Mother of seven children, Val spent her life devoted to them. She was a La Leche Leage Leader, and also one of the earliest homeschooling families in the area. A lifelong learner herself, she was the one her family turned to for everything because if she didn't already know the answer she would work until she found one it would help someone she loved.

Family and friends may visit Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 and Tuesday, Feb. 18th from 2-7 pm at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa and for 1 hour prior to the Funeral Service, which will begin at 10:30 am, Wednesday, Feb. 19th at Nappanee Missionary Church. Riley Brown, grandson and Pastor Peter Damaska, Nappanee Missionary Church will officiate and burial will be in Olive East Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Inspiration Ministries, The Spa, or RETA.
