Titus M. Ramer


NEW PARIS [mdash] Titus M Ramer, 79, New Paris, died Friday, June 21 at Green House Village, Goshen. He had been in declining health for several months.
Titus was born Sept. 13, 1939, near Wakarusa, to Nathan and Emma (Martin) Ramer.
He married Anna Marie Zimmerman on June 1, 1963.
Titus had many careers and several of them simultaneously. He was a long-time plant manager for Franklin Coach RV Company, Nappanee. Titus and Anna Marie also owned Ramer Produce, a custom poultry processing plant in New Paris. He sold pork and cheese at the South Bend Farmer's Market helming a stall side-by-side with his parents who sold poultry and eggs.
Titus' "retirement" job was at Stickley Ace Hardware, Nappanee, where he especially enjoyed being able to use his first language, Pennsylvania Dutch.
Surviving are his sons, Durrell (Stephanie) Ramer, Madison, Wisconsin, C. Wade Ramer, Goshen, Jay (Natalie) Ramer, Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Adam and Sam Ramer, Madison, Wisconsin; and siblings, Catherine (Omar) Stoltzfus, Luray, Virginia, Alva Ramer, New Paris, Lois Ramer, Whittier, California, Willis (Marion) Ramer, Bellevue, Michigan, Heber (Cheryl) Ramer, Harper, Kansas, LeRoy Ramer, Nappanee, Glenna (Jerry) Sloan, Chattanooga, Tennesee, and Mary Jane Bowles, Fredricksburg, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie Ramer; his parents; and a sister, Esther Eye, Weyers Cave, Virginia.
Titus was a member of Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, where he served as an elder among many other roles.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, June 28 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Saturday, June 29 at Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, 200 N. 23rd St., Goshen. Pastor Ben Shirk will officiate.
Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery.
