Tamara Lubarsky Sukow Obituary

Tamara Lubarsky Sukow, 81, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Monday April 25, at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 22, 1935 in Zhytomyr, Ukraine, to Fernando and Martha (Mostovich) Hoffert. Her parents passed away when Tamara was 5 years old and she was raised by her uncle and aunt, Stanley and Vera Hachinski, and her grandmother, Cecila Mostovich.

On Aug. 12, 1972 in Elkhart, she married Wasily B. Sukow. He survives along with six children, Switlana (Hugh) Wells, Alla (Larry) Whitaker, Anthony (HyeSuk) Lubarsky and Tatiana Boling, all of Elkhart, Andrew (Amy) Sukow of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Gregory Sukow of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Svitlana Sysoliatina of Russia; three brothers, Dr. Vladimir (Mary Ann) Hachinski and Andrew (Linda) Hachinski, both of Canada, and Fernando (Nancy) Hachinski of Elkhart; and her mother who raised her, Vera Hachinski of Canada.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents; her father and grandmother that raised her; a son, Walter Lubarsky; a grandson, Jeremy Whitaker; and her son-in-law, Craig Boling.

Tamara enjoyed going to the casinos, knitting, gardening, canning and cooking. She liked to share her good food with everyone and she was a friend to all she met.

She retired in 1997 from E.R. Carpenter and most recently was a homemaker.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at the funeral home. Pastor John Hogsett from Faith United Methodist Church and the Rev. Father Jaroslaw of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church will preside.

Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
