Goshen, Indiana - Sherill B. Thornburg, 84, of Goshen, passed away at 1:27 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, at Esther's House.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1941, in Goshen, to Wayne B. and Dorothy M. (Crouch) Tarman.

On July 3, 1959, she married Delbert "Stony" R. Thornburg.

Surviving are her husband, Delbert "Stony" R. Thornburg; daughters, Deborah Kletka of Granger, Kim E. Thornburg of Elkhart, and Andrea (Ottis) Winters of Depauw; grandchildren, Patrick (Lindsay) Ambroziak, Jamil (Gio) Alkattan, Allia (Billy Haab) Alkattan, Nicole Hull, Alayna (Aaron) Duncan, Marissa Hull, Nate Holdeman; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; and son-in-law, Robert Kletka.

Sherill was a woman of profound faith, deep dedication, and gentle service who left a mark on everyone she knew.

A 1959 graduate of Syracuse High School, where she first shared her musical gifts in the band and choir, she went on to build a 37-year career in commercial lines at Salem (Epic) Insurance, having also worked for the Federal Land Bank FHS.

Her life was anchored by her unwavering devotion to God and her community.

She was a former member and regular lector at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and a current parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she served as a member of the choir.

Sherill was known by many as a true prayer warrior.

Alongside her beloved husband, Stony, she spent many years bringing comfort to others by delivering for Meals on Wheels.

Above all, Sherill cherished the quiet joy of reading a good book and the irreplaceable moments spent surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be Friday, July 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral mass immediately following at 11:00 a.m., all at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 417 S. Main St., Goshen, Indiana 46526.

Father Brian Florin will be officiating.

Burial will take place at New Paris Cemetery.
