Scott Lee Hire, age 65, of Millersburg, passed away unexpectedly as the result of an automobile accident that took place in Sturgis, Michigan on Friday, Jan. 12.
He was born on May 28, 1958 in LaGrange, the son of Warren G. & Dorothy Mae (Angel) Hire.
He graduated form Fairfield High School in 1977 and was a very talented guy.
A jack of all trades, he was a cook at The Brick House in Goshen for many years and transported RV's all across the United States. He loved the open road and couldn't wait to be on it.
While growing up he worked with his family on the legendary Mount Wawasee Ski Lodge making snow and great memories.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Mae Hire of Ligonier; six siblings, Marsha Coak of Fort Wayne, Marie Dillon of Shipshewana, Quentin Hire of Syracuse, Melanie Epert of Wawaka, Lori (Kurt) Dressler of Kendallville, and Angie (Paul) Bickel of New Paris.
He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Hire; and brothers, Jon Hire, Stephen Hire, and Thomas Hire.
A funeral service will be held in Scott's honor on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at Richville Community Church, 11009 Co Rd 50, Ligonier. Greg Hire will officiate.
Burial will follow at Hire Cemetery in Ligonier.
Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, on Monday, Jan. 22. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
