Ruth Marie Utley, 81, Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Elkhart Hospice House.
She was born March 26, 1935, in Vermillion, South Dakota, to George and Lena (Ostrander) Iverson.
On Oct. 31, 1953, she married Herbert M. Utley. He preceded her in death June 16, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Cary A. Utley, who died Nov. 29, 2003; and six brothers and sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Melvin Utley and Rodney (Judy) Utley, both of Elkhart, and Timothy (Karmin) Utley, Middlebury; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a housewife who enjoyed spending time with her family, playing euchre and bowling.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart.
Funeral services for Ruth will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home.
Pastor Mike Brouillette from the Extend Missional Community Church will preside.
Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
