Ruth Miller, 92, formerly of Elkhart, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen.

She was born Jan. 1, 1924 in Elkhart, to Timothy and Lillian (Crist) Putman.

On May 4, 1946 in Elkhart, she married William P. "Bill" Miller. He preceded her in death March 30, 1987 in Elkhart.

Surviving are a son, Philip W. (Vickie) Miller of Elkhart; four granddaughters, Kelly (Amanda Schelle) Rider, Jaime (Jason) Stacy, Diana (Joel) dela Reza and Daniela (Preston) Martin; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Kara, Hayden, Myles and Jailen. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Margie Putman of Goshen and sons-in-law, Dudley (Patricia) Rider of Elkhart and Jack Warlick of Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cheryl Rider; two brothers, Howard and Clifford Putman; and a sister, Lucille Warlick.

Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Goshen and a member of the Evergreen Singers at Greencroft for more than 17 years. She was also a former board member of the Women's Shelter and received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed doing crafts.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday April 11, at the funeral home. Pastors Brenda and Ed Fritz from the First United Methodist Church in Goshen will preside.

Entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Women's Shelter of Elkhart County.
