Goshen, Indiana - Ronald D. Kehr, 103, Goshen, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, at Greencroft Healthcare.

He was born on March 20, 1922, to Jerry and Beulah (Bauer) Kehr in Harrison Township, Indiana.

On Nov. 5, 1950, he married Marilyn (Salee) Kehr.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn, of Goshen; son, Ross (Marcia) Kehr of Goshen; son-in-law, Jack Elliott of Middlebury; grandchildren, Nathan (Lindsay) Kehr, Evan (Britt) Kehr, Paige (Rusty Cripe) Elliott, all of Goshen and Kipp Elliott of Lebanon, Tennessee; great-granddaughters, Adeline Ann, Avery Ann, Amelia Mae, and Edith Lynn Kehr, all of Goshen; and sister, Joan Zieller of Middletown, Connecticut.

Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Jane Elliott; brother, M. William Kehr; and sister, Carol LaRue.

Ron was a proud 1940 graduate of Wakarusa High School and a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served in Tientsin, China, from 1945 to 1946.

He worked for 35 years for NIPSCO, where he was mobile crane operator before his retirement in 1983.

He was also a man of deep faith and a proud, long-standing member of the Trinity Lutheran Church community for over 50 years.

In his youth, Ron shared a passion with his father for rebuilding steam traction engines and Rumely Oil Pulls. They often operated these machines at local shows and parades. This interest endured throughout his life; even into his 90's, as he continued to enjoy attending Steam Shows in nearby states with his son.

An avid reader, Ron consumed books on a variety of subjects, with a particular fondness for those about steam traction engines, steam railroad trains, and the American Civil War. He also cherished yearly family vacations to Ludington, Michigan.
