Goshen, IN - Ray S. Landis, 87, died on Wednesday, March 4, at Waterford Crossing Health Campus.

He was born on May 7, 1938 in Sellersville, Pennsylvania to Ephraim M. and Mamie (Stover) Landis.

A 1956 graduate of Pennridge High School, he attended Goshen College and served two years in 1-W service in Kalamazoo, working with physical therapy patients.

On Oct. 17, 1959 he married Frances Weaver in Goshen at College Mennonite Church. She died on Aug. 1, 2024.

He is survived by three sons, Steve (Bev) , Goshen, Ron (Tammy) , Elkhart and Jim (Anne), Granger; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Brian, Scott, Jenna, Regan Jeremy, Justine, Julia and Joe; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife Fran, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Roy S. Landis; and sisters, Marian Martin and Gladys Grasse.

Ray was a local dairy farmer for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Pure Milk Association, Elkhart County Holstein Association and the Elkhart County Fair Board.

When he "retired" from farming, he worked at Sorg Dodge for seven years as a salesman, and when he "retired" from Sorg's he came to work for Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where he was a highly valued and respected employee.

A man of faith, Ray served as an elder at Holdeman Mennonite Church and has been a member at Clinton Frame Church for over 30 years.

He had a gift for singing and sang in octet and quartet groups for 40 plus years.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 C.R. 35, Goshen.

A private burial will be held Wednesday, March 11, at Clinton Frame Cemetery prior to the 10:30 a.m. memorial service at the church. Pastors Sebastiano Rosa and Amos Yoder will officiate
