Philip J. Dintaman, 82, of Howe, died Tuesday, August 15, at his home.

Phil was born on October 19, 1940, in Sturgis, MI, to Carl and Salina (Christner) Dintaman.

They preceded him in death, as did his brother, Carl Patrick and brother-in-law, Ron Stutzman.

On August 12, 1967, he married Judy Myers, who survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Sonya and Dale Dorris of Hudson, IN; and son, Monty Dintaman of Parker, CO; his sisters, Phyllis Stutzman of Goshen, IN, Carol and Vernon Birky of Goshen, IN, Pam Dintaman of Tuscon, AZ; and his brother, Steve and Betsy Dintaman of Harrisonburg, VA as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and five stepgrandchildren.

Phil was a lifelong resident of LaGrange County. He bought his first farm at the age of 17.

One of his most impressionable life experiences was to live and work for three years in Indonesia with Mennonite Central Committee. That time left a lasting impression on Phil's life.

After returning from Indonesia, he began driving trucks for Cain Lumber and eventually bought his own trucks and started his owning company, Dintaman Grain and Lime. He ran this business until his retirement.

In retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle, landscaping, and traveling the country.

He was an active member of the Shore Church, Howe Lions Clubs, the Howe Volunteer Fire Department, and served as the Lima Township Trustee.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, at the Shore Church, 7235 W 100 N, Shipshewana, IN 46565, from 4 p.m. 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday, August 23, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Nic Raber officiating the services.

Burial will take place in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana, IN.

Memorials may be made in Phil's memory to the Rainbow Years Learning Center in Shipshewana, IN.
