Middlebury, IN - Omer E. Schlabach, 80, of Middlebury, (district: 68-7), died at 5:09 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on Sept. 24, 1945, in LaGrange County, to Emanuel and Nora (Miller) Schlabach.

On Oct. 28, 1965, he married Anna Mae Bontrager. She survives.

Survivors in addition to his wife are ten children, Carolyn (Clayton) Yoder of Topeka, Darla (David) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Lamar (Nancy) Schlabach of Middlebury, Joseph (Marie) Schlabach of Shipshewana, Merlin (Miriam) Schlabach of Middlebury, Jane (Wilbur) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Omer (Marilyn) Schlabach of Middlebury, Waneta (Ivan) Yutzy of Shipshewana, Paul (Jolene) Schlabach of Shipshewana, Mark (Linda) Schlabach of Shipshewana; 55 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola (Ervin - Dec.) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Alice (Elmer) Yoder of Topeka; two sisters-in-law, Beulah Schlabach of Middlebury, Fannie Schlabach of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nora Ann Schlabach; two grandsons, Daniel Yoder and Jaylon Schlabach; two great-grandchildren, Melissa Otto and Lucas Bontrager; five brothers, Alvin, Roman, John, Orva, Wilbur Schlabach; five sisters, Emma Kauffman, Esther Miller, Mary Schlabach, Mabel Miller, Wilma Yoder.

Omer enjoyed working at Jomar Machining and Fabricating in Middlebury and fishing.

He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Visitation was after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, and will be all day Monday, July 13, at the family's residence, 13253 CR 22, Middlebury.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, also at the family's residence.

Services will be conducted by Bishop Gary Schlabach and the home ministers.

Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.
