Middlebury, Indiana - Nelson Lowell Troyer, 86, of Middlebury, formerly of Shipshewana, passed away peacefully at 10:45 am on Wednesday, May 13, at Majestic Care of Goshen. He was born on October 31, 1939, in Fairview, MI, to Joseph and Violet (Kaufman) Troyer. On April 13, 1963 in Fairview, MI he married Sandra C. Gascho, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons, Todd (Michelle) Troyer of Elkhart, Tyler (Kim) Troyer of Loveland, CO, Chad Troyer of Middlebury; seven grandchildren; a great grandson, Vincent "Vinny"; two brothers, Donald (Cleta) Troyer of Fairview, MI, Orlo (Lorene) Troyer of Fairview, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Cletus and Darwin Troyer. Nelson had worked at Big "C" Lumber in Middlebury and for 17 years at Howard Park Mobile Homes in Shipshewana. He was a long-time member of Marion Mennonite Church and enjoyed riding his bicycle on the Pumpkin Vine Trail. He also enjoyed spending time in nature and often could be found cutting and splitting wood for his wood burner. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 17, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Burial will be at a later date in Sidener Cemetery, Howe.
