Elkhart, Indiana - Nancy Kay Thomas, 87, was called home to Heaven on June 1.

She was born Nancy Kay Luebke in Black Wolf, Wisconsin on November 8th, 1935, where she spent her early childhood on the Luebke family Farm between Oshkosh and Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

After moving to Elkhart with her family in 1939, she attended grade and high school in Elkhart.

She lived the majority of her life in Elkhart County and worked as a personal assistant to a local physician for most of her working life.

She retired to Palmetto, Florida for a few years and then returned to Elkhart to be near her children and grandchildren.

She was a dedicated Christian as well as a faithful servant to our Lord Jesus Christ attending a Brethren Church in Osceola.

In life, she treasured her 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren along with two great-great-grandchildren.

She was an avid birdwatcher, enjoyed days on the lake cane pole fishing, crocheted for relaxation, and loved to play cards with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter H.A. Luebke and Kathryn (McDonald) Luebke of Elkhart and a great-granddaughter, Carlee Dawn Back.

She is survived by siblings, Walter H. Luebke, Jr. of Elkhart and Patricia J. Gordy of Osceola; her son, Jeffrey L. (Margaret) Thomas of Goshen with their daughters, Olivia of Indianapolis and Isabelle of Portsmouth, Virginia; daughter, Julie Rolston Thomas of Elkhart and her children, Jamison (Suzie) Back in Florida, Nichole (Jason) Fletcher of Elkhart, and Miranda McNeely of Elkhart; daughter, Jennifer (Rodney) Adkins of Elkhart, and her daughters, Katherine (Jason) Lucas and Kristine (Scott) Covey of Elkhart. Her great-grandchildren are Mallory Fletcher of Florida, Caylee (Blade) Stitt of Florida, Jayden Back of Florida, Johnathen Lucas of Cassopolis, Michigan, Alexandria Lucas of Goshen, Kailah Wingard of Elkhart; Jasmine Carpenter, Jordan Carpenter, Julianna McNeely; Trent Covey and Sequiah Covey, all of Elkhart. Her great-great grandchildren are Cason and Jaxx Stitt of Florida.

There will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at the

Elkhart Conservation Club at a later date.
