Michael Rollo Leasor
He was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Ralph E. and Virginia (Day) Leasor.
On June 3, 1989, in Elkhart, he married Patricia "Trish" Young. She survives along with five children, Lisa (Kevin) Grover, Elkhart, Brian (Michelle) Leasor, Merrillville, Benjamin (Anna) Vidic, Beaverton, Oregon, Kristopher Vidic, Macomb, Michigan, and Katie (Ron) Lev, Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two siblings, David (Jackie) Leasor, Mansfield, Texas, and Jane Lower, Sebring, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ellen Fuller-Foyt.
Michael graduated in 1960 from Elkhart High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966 and received an honorable discharge.
Michael served on the Elkhart County Election Board, was a precinct committeeman and county chairman for the Democratic Party. He ran for the Indiana State Senate, was the president of the Board of Directors of Lacasa in Goshen, served on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity and was a trustee for the First Congregational Church in Elkhart.
Michael was a former building commissioner for the city of Goshen, was a building inspector for the city of Elkhart and a supplier to the RV Industry.
A celebration of life service for Michael will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen, IN 46526. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Pastors Mark Mikel and Everett Thomas will preside.
Memorial contributions may be given to Lacasa or to the College Mennonite Church.
