Merlin E. Gingerich


Merlin E. Gingerich, 71, Howe, died March 29, at IU Health University Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mr. Gingerich was born March 3, 1948, in Elkhart, to Jacob and Gertrude (Schrock) Gingerich. Living his lifetime in LaGrange and Elkhart counties, he was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Goshen.
Mr. Gingerich was a farmer and drove truck across the country for Celadon Trucking in Indianapolis. He began working for them in 1985. In 1995, his wife, Marjorie, joined him. They drove together until their retirement in 2014.
On Feb. 27, 1971, at Middlebury Mennonite Church, he married Marjorie M. Marner, who survives.
Also surviving are his four children, Adam Gingerich, Scott Gingerich, Leslie Kauffman and Lisa Gingerich; three grandchildren, Adam Gingerich Jr., Briana Kauffman and Sabrina Kauffman; brother, Richard Gingerich; and two sisters, Donna Bridger and Marlene (Joe) Ramirez.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Gingerich.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, April 6, at 10 a.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange. The Rev. Glen Middleton will officiate the service.
Visitation will take place at the funeral home Friday, April 5, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service time at 10 am.
