Machela A. Taylor-Moorehead, 59, died Sunday, April 3, at 8:20 p.m. at her residence in Elkhart.

Machela was born Nov. 19, 1956 in Goshen, to Emerson and Eleanor (Juday) Ott.

On June 14, 1975, she married Mitchell Taylor, who preceded her in death May 22, 1989.

On May 2, 1992 in Elkhart, she married James "Mark" Moorehead, who preceded her in death April 30, 2013.

She had worked for Elkhart General Hospital for more than 20 years in nutrition services.

She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Elkhart, where she used her wonderful artistic talent to paint murals and help build and design sets for plays and musicals. She used her musical talent in playing the saxophone in the church orchestra. She helped spearhead two major ministry projects each year for the last 10 years, the Back-to-School Bash where more than 800 school back packs were filled with supplies and given to area children; and a Thanksgiving dinner made available to the public, free of charge, where more than 250 people were served each year.

She was always very proud and active in her grandchildren's lives and attended every event she could.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Melissa Taylor of Elkhart, Brandie (Jimmy) Berry of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Robin (Daryl) Hayes of Zanesville, Ohio. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Lyncon, Bella and Logan Berry.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; a son, Matthew Taylor; and a brother, Michael Ott.

Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the noon celebration of life service Friday, April 8, at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Elkhart. Pastor Brian Whidden will officiate.

Inurnment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to the Calvary Assembly of God Church.
