Louise Dorothea Frick, 95, of Goshen, formerly of Wawaka, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1929 to Ralph R. and Paula K. (Krueger) Rhea in rural Kendallville.
As a child, Louise and her family moved to a farm near Wawaka, Indiana, where she had a wonderful childhood.
She graduated from Wawaka High School in 1947, then went on to graduate from the Lutheran School of Nursing in Fort Wayne.
Her weekends were spent with her beau, Merrill, driving to Fort Wayne for dates.
Louise and Merrill Blosser Frick were married in the yard of her parents in Wawaka on Sept. 10, 1950.
Their first home was an apartment in LaGrange, while she was a nurse at LaGrange County Hospital.
After the birth of her first child, she became a full time mother and all of her children were born at LaGrange.
They made their home next to her parents where they raised a son and two daughters.
She led a busy life with family and church, as the perfect match to her husband.
Louise will be remembered by her family for her ability to answer any question when called about any scrape, cut, or illness. She instilled in both her daughters cooking and knitting skills. After her children were raised, she took up quilting, and her children and grandchildren still treasure her many gifts.
Those left to treasure her memories are three children, Daniel (Heidi) Frick of Ligonier, Janell (Bill) Stufflebeam of Goshen, and Gretchen (Jon) Small of Eldridge, IA; ten grandchildren, Adam (Marlijn) Frick, Adam Leatherman, Kate Koyak, Jordyn (Alex) Landberg, Reid (Jodi) Frick, Emily (Chris) Bolognese, Amanda (Charles) Shepard, Daniel (Jamie) Martin, Sarah Small, and Maria Small; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill; her parents; and a son-in-law, Tim Martin.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Waterford Crossing, Goshen, for their wonderful care of mom, grandma, and great grandma.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway S, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Jean Ness will officiate.
Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
