Lorna M. Muncie, 86, died at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Mrs. Muncie was born June 14, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Donald I. and Jerie (Gerrodette) McMeekan. On Dec. 30, 1949, also in Brooklyn, New York, she married Russell W. Muncie Sr. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1988.

Lorna was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was very dedicated to her family and church. She loved to go fishing, mushroom hunting and play cards. She loved getting her hair done and attending Saturday evening Mass at St. Thomas's and there wasn't a day that went by that she didn't call her children at least once. She will be missed and forever in her children's hearts.

She was a resident of Elkhart since 1962 and was employed at Miles Lab for many years. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Elkhart where she was a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Century Club at Miles Labs and was a Pink Lady at Elkhart General Hospital for ten years.

She is survived by three sons, Russell W. Muncie Jr. and Jerry L. (Tammy Jo) Muncie, both of Elkhart, and William J. (Elaina) Muncie, Bristol; two daughters, Tammy Nickerson, Leslie, Michigan, and Cherie (Sam) Lester, Elkhart; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a special cousin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Elkhart, Father Jason Freiburger will officiate the mass. Burial will follow the mass at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

Pallbearers will be; Russ Muncie, Jerry Muncie, Bill Muncie, Derek Muncie, Sam Lester, Drew Lester and Dirk Lester.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.
