Goshen, IN - Lois Darlene Miller, 84, of Goshen, passed away on Saturday, May 2, at Goshen General Hospital.

Lois was born on Aug. 28, 1941, in Elkhart to Cecil and Bernice (Ramsey) Ward.

On Jan. 16, 1965, in Elkhart, she married Lester "Dean" Miller. Together they shared nearly 60 years of marriage before his passing on May 10, 2024.

Surviving are two sons, Timothy (Kathy Sears) Miller of Goshen and Thomas (Sandi Ehlers) Miller of Bristol; two grandchildren, Drew (Summer) Miller and Tayler Miller; two sisters, Margaret Timmons and Joyce Ternet; and two brothers, David and John Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dean; and seven siblings, Ardith Highley, Mary Sheibley, Phyllis Newell, Alice Bontrager, Gene Ward, Harry Ward and Jim Ward.

Above all Lois was a woman deeply devoted to her family.

She would often reminisce with stories of her brothers and sisters growing up in Elkhart. Lois was from a large family and was one of 12 siblings!

In her free time, Lois could be found at home with Dean enjoying the simple things in life such as making dinner, playing Mahjong or working around the house.

Another treasured pleasure for Lois was the annual family reunion. She truly loved the reunions, seeing the whole family together.

Lois attended The First Baptist Church of Elkhart until her health would not allow her to.

In her younger years, Lois enjoyed bowling, even earning some awards.

In her professional career, Lois held several clerical positions in both the manufacturing and banking industries, including Johns Manville, Goshen Rubber, Society Bank and others.

In her retirement years, Lois switched to the food industry including Das Dutchman Essenhaus and most recently at Dutch Maid Bakery.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
