Lela Mae Neely, 92, of Elkhart, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at her home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Madison County, Alabama, to Joe and Rosie (Pruitt) Langstone.
On Jan. 10, 1946, she married Robert A. Neely Sr. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1984.
Surviving are six children, Angela Harris of Elkhart, Troy Neely of Shipshewana, Eric Neely and Michael Neely, both of Elkhart, Clyde Garner of Detroit, and Allen Jerome Neely of Goshen; 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Robert Neely Jr., Tyrone Garner and Marlon Neely; and two siblings, Richard and Olivia Janice.
Lela was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, coloring, playing cards and board games and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going shopping.
A celebration of life gathering for immediate family will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Masks are required for entry into the funeral home. There will be a short service at the funeral home starting at 10:30 a.m., and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
