LeAnna Schmucker Obituary
Elkhart, Indiana - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of LeAnna Schmucker, who peacefully entered the eternal presence of her Creator and Savior while surrounded by family on July 2, at 8:33 p.m. For 83 years her generous spirit has touched countless lives.
LeAnna grew up in a joy filled home in Topeka, Indiana before meeting the love of her life Ezra in Nappanee.
As a devoted mother of five, LeAnna considered motherhood the most important achievement in her life.
Her contagious joyful spirit affected all those with whom she met; and many became lifelong friends.
In her spare time, you could find her playing cards with friends and watching Wheel of Fortune, her favorite TV show.
LeAnna loved to cook and entertain her family and friends.
She was an active member of the Nappanee Missionary Church hospitality team which fit perfectly with her love for people and cooking.
LeAnna lived by the moto "Jesus first, others second and yourself last" and taught this same truth to her children. She would rather serve everyone than have anyone serve her.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ezra Schmucker; her children, Rod (Becky) Schmucker of Milwaukee Wisconsin, Ron (Carey) Schmucker of Fort Wayne, Brian (Robyn) Schmucker of Decatur Indiana, Carol (Troy) Glaser of Nappanee, and Corina (Tad) Gongwer of Wakarusa; sibling, Sarah (John) Wingard of Topeka Indiana. She had 12 grandchildren, Brooke (Mike) Hernandez, Bree (J) Dortch, Brayden (Summer) Glaser, Drake Gongwer, Alyssa Schmucker, Kylie (Chad) Sellers, Kenedy Gongwer, Katie Schmucker, Gage Gongwer, Colby Schmucker, Josie Schmucker and Maggie Schmucker. She also had 3 great-grandchildren, Grayson Hernandez, Caden Dortch and Baker Hernandez.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nathanial Miller; mother, Mary Miller; brother, Larry Miller; sister, Loretta Chupp; and great-grandchild, Parker Dortch.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 6, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Nappanee Missionary Church, Nappanee.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, in the main sanctuary at the Nappanee Missionary Church with visitation 1 hour prior to the service in the chapel.
Burial service will follow at the Union Center Cemetery.
