Nappanee, Indiana - Kristine Carol Trachsel of Nappanee, passed away Thursday morning, July 9.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1954 in South Bend, to the late Ray and JoAnn (Leeper) Schwartz of Nappanee.

She is survived by her two children, Tim Trachsel, Elkhart, and Megan Trachsel, Nappanee; two brothers, Kent Schwartz, Nappanee, Kurt Schwartz, Syracuse; nephew, Jason Schwartz, Goshen; niece, Angie Kipp-Kellogg, Syracuse; great nephews, Guile and Gaven; great niece, Grace; great-great nephew, Koen; and long-time family friend, Alex.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and twin daughters, Stephanie and Renee.

Known for her engaging smile and vibrant personality, Kris was loved and will be remembered warmly by many.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

A long-time active member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church, Kris sang in the choir for 32 years, and held offices in the Women's Group.

Quite the athlete in her days, she played tennis, basketball, softball, and was an avid swimmer, which she continued to enjoy throughout her adulthood.

Family and friends will gather for a viewing on Tuesday, July 21, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. All will take place at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee.

Pastor Chris Stephens of Nappanee United Methodist Church will officiate.

Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee.
