Wakarusa, Indiana - Jim George, age 76 of Wakarusa,died on Saturday evening, May 16, at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 18, 1949 in Elkhart, to Wayne and Beulah ( Bollman) George.

Jim was a lifelong Wakarusa resident and was a 1968 graduate of Wakarusa High School.

On July 14, 1973, Jim married Debra Rink at Zion United Church of Christ in Millersburg.

Jim worked as a carpenter throughout his life.

He worked both in the RV industry and as a handyman, and in later years, owned his own business, Jim's Construction.

He was a proud 4-H dad, helping his children with their projects and lending a hand in the barn and arena to Elkhart County 4H'ers. He also coached little league in Wakarusa for 10 years.

Jim enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada and was an antique collector.

He was a member of the Union Center Church of the Brethren.

Above all, Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Debbie George of Wakarusa; daughter, Tracy (Matt) Roberts of Wawaka; son, Travis (Jamie) George of Syracuse; and a granddaughter, Maggie Roberts; 2 sisters, Jane George and Sandy Casteel, both of Wakarusa; and a brother, Steve (Jennine) George of Middlebury.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and a stillborn sister, Brenda George.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 2-8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Wakarusa.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, at Union Center Church of the Brethren, Nappanee, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will take place at South Union Cemetery.

Pastor Steve Norton will officiate.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Jim's name to Wakarusa Little League.
