Harvey C. Lambright
Mr. Lambright was born Sept. 23, 1931, in LaGrange County, to Charles William and Elizabeth (Eash) Lambright.
On Oct. 14, 1956, in Brighton, he married Patricia "Pat" M. Lewis. Mrs. Lambright preceded him in death Nov. 29, 2015.
Mr. Lambright served in the United States Navy from 1951 until his discharge in 1955. After returning from the Navy in 1955, he began his career as an auctioneer after graduating from Repperts School of Auctioneering in Decatur. It was at this time that he formed a partnership with his father-in-law and Lewis and Lambright Auction and Real Estate firm began. In 1972, he and his wife formed the corporation of Lewis and Lambright Inc. Auctioneers and Realtors and held the designations of GRI, CAI, CREA, SCAP, AARE and M-CES.
Every Wednesday, for the past 64 years, Harvey worked at the Shipshewana Antique Auction. A member of several organizations, he served as president of the Indiana Auctioneers Association in 1970, the National Auctioneers Association in 1979 and the Northeastern Indiana Board of Realtors in 1972. He was on the Indiana Auctioneer Commission for 16 years, serving as chairman for three of those years; honored in 1970 by the Northeastern Indiana Board of Realtors as the Realtor of the Year; inducted in 1982 into the Indiana Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame; and in 1984, into the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.
Amongst his other accomplishments, he was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash Award in May 1975 and was the LaGrange County Republican Chairman for more than 20 years.
Harvey was a longtime member of Brighton Chapel in rural Howe, LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and a former member of the Knights of Pythias.
Surviving are his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra Lambright and her fiancé, Meredith Cameron, and Denise and Carl Scott, all of LaGrange, and Dodie and J.R. Hart, Shipshewana; step-grandson and his wife, Brodee and Sarah Hart, Elkhart; step-great-grandson, Noah Lee Hart; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wilma and Raymond Yoder, Millersburg, Amanda Eash, Bloomfield, Iowa, and Katie and Joe Shinn, Shipshewana; and brother, Freeman Lambright, Dandridge, Tennessee.
Along with his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Corey Whitcomb and Chase Scott; sister, Mary Miller; and brother, Enos Lambright.
Funeral services will take place Friday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at Brighton Chapel, 5415 N. Ind. 3, Howe. The Rev. Rustin Krapfl will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery in rural Howe. Pallbearers will be Brodee Hart, Scott Gochenaur, Kevin Lambright, Johnny Wainwright, Harlan Kauffman, Nelson Miller and honorary pallbearer Jack Oakley. The LaGrange American Legion will provide military graveside services.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 21, from 2-8 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange.
Memorials may be made to the LaGrange County Community Foundation for the Chase Scott Memorial Fund.
