Middlebury, Indiana - Harold D. Targgart, 78, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was surrounded by his loving family while he was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus.
Harold was born on March 1, 1947.
He graduated from Ligonier High School in 1965.
He earned a Purple Heart while serving his country in the Vietnam War.
He was a hard-working farmer for many years; and a faithful member of Ligonier United Methodist Church.
Harold was a devoted husband of 56 years to Rosemary Targgart, and a proud father to Doug (Jennie) Targgart and Amy (Brian) Seegert. Nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family, especially his six grandchildren, Logan (Morgan) Targgart, Cole Targgart, Drew Seegert, Beth Seegert, Dylan Targgart, Collin (fiancé Alexandra) Seegert; and three great-grandchildren, Luke, Jack, and Grant Targgart.
He enjoyed spending time with family, cruising around Dallas Lake, driving the golf cart, and mowing yards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Targgart; and his siblings, Arthur Targgart, Miriam Rossmanith, and Marilyn Wagner.
Funeral services were on Monday, Feb. 2, at 11:00 a.m., at the Ligonier United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior.
Visitation was also held on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the church.
