Gregory L. Wilkinson, 61, passed away Saturday, July 23, at his home.

He was born Oct. 27, 1954 in Decatur, to Paul and Nyla (Morningstar) Wilkinson.

On June 25 in Elkhart, he married Edith "Edie" Bontrager. She survives along with two children, Sarah J.E. Wilkinson Harless (Ben) of Northville, Michigan, and J. Perry Morningstar, who is stationed in Okinawa, Japan, with the U.S. Navy; two grandsons, Joshua Harless and Andrew Harless; three stepchildren, Abrianna Bontrager, Hailey Heed and Cameron Heed, all of Elkhart; a sister, Paula Hutchison, Elkhart; brother, Les (Marla) Wilkinson, Elkhart; and three nephews, Christopher Knott, Will Hutchison and Jonathan Wilkinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Greg graduated from Belmont High School in Decatur and served in the U.S. Army for 22 years.

He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Abate of Indiana and was an Indiana Patriot Guard Rider. Greg enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He worked for CSX Transportation as a signal foreman.

A celebration of life gathering for Greg will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart.

At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Elkhart Disabled American Veterans will render full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Faith Mission or the National Leukemia Foundation.
