Gerald A. "Jerry" Trolz, 84, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, July 19, at his home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Manchester, Michigan, to Loren and Margaret (Lowery) Trolz.
On July 25, 1964, in Jackson, Michigan, he married Barbara J. Smith. She preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2017, in Elkhart.
Surviving is a son, James (Marlene) Mack, Rockford, Michigan; three grandchildren, Steve (Jessica) Mack, Pooler, Georgia, Linda (Glen) LaForce, Hilton Head, S.C., Jenny Mack, The Villages, Florida; and four great-grandchildren, Michael Mack and Allison Mack, both of Pooler, Georgia, Alexandrea (Alex) White, Safety Harbor, Florida, and Mason Deregnaucourt, The Villages, Florida. Additional survivors include his sister, Joan (John) Dobben, Jackson, Michigan; three nephews; one niece; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; and a brother, Roger Trolz.
Jerry graduated in 1954 from high school in Manchester, Michigan, and in 1958, he graduated from Western Michigan University. He served in the National Guard from 1958-1964. Jerry was the president of Goshen Stamping from 1973-2016 and the current owner of Bent Oak Golf Course in Elkhart. Jerry was a member of Delta Sigma Phi, a charter member and past president of the Goshen Noon Kiwanis Club, past president of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Goshen Industrial Park.
In 2017, Jerry received the Guy Gunlach award for making a difference in the Elkhart Community, and he also received the Goshen Chamber Legacy Award for being the president of the Goshen Industrial Park for 20 years.
A graveside service for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday July 23, in Prairie Street Cemetery. Vince Turner will preside and military honors will follow the service. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Boys and Girls Club of Goshen.
