A funeral service for Garrett Compton will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Evans, Dayspring Community Church, officiating.

The family will greet friends Friday evening, Nov. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Garrett Compton, 21, Lubbock, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, in Lubbock.

He was born Sept. 19, 1997, in Tacoma, Washington, to Christopher Douglas and Rhonda Renee (Chambers) Compton.

Garrett grew up in a military family and lived in Washington, Oklahoma, Germany, Rhode Island, Hawaii and Pennsylvania, as his family moved around the globe for various military assignments.

Garrett was home schooled through high school and graduated in 2015 while living in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He was awarded an Oklahoma Regents Scholarship to attend Cameron University in the fall of 2015. He majored in music and attended classes from 2015-2017.

Garrett was a talented classical pianist and musician. He taught himself guitar and composed classical and Christian music. He performed in local recitals and was active in music ministry at church in both Oklahoma and Rhode Island.

Garrett moved to Dallas in the summer of 2017 and worked full time at Starbucks. In August, he moved to Lubbock, Texas, and continued to work for Starbucks. In addition to music, Garrett loved to travel, sail and spend time with family and friends.

Garrett is survived by his parents, Christopher and Rhonda Compton; his brother, Jacob Compton; two sisters, Jaydin and Aubree Compton; his grandparents, Rod and Janine Compton, Frankton, Indiana, and Mark and Pauline Chambers, Goshen, Indiana; his uncle, Brad and Amanda Compton, Indianapolis, Indiana; and aunt, April and Nathan Clark, Goshen, Indiana. He is also survived by cousins, Chloe Compton, Hayden Clark, Trenton Clark and Brayla Clark.
