A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Flawn L. Sailor passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, in Carmel, Indiana.

He will be remembered for his steady love, quiet strength, deep faith, private generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.

His legacy lives on in the generations who were blessed to know and love him.

Flawn and his twin sister, Fay, were born in Elkhart, in 1939 to Blanche and Charles Sailor, numbers seven and eight of eight brothers and sisters. A ninth child and half-brother was added to the family later.

Flawn was valedictorian of Wakarusa High School's Class of 1957 and went on to graduate from Indiana University, Bloomington, becoming the first in his family to earn a college degree.

Before leaving for college, he met the love of his life, Nancy Sue Mishler. They courted for six years before marrying on March 10, 1962 at Union Center Church of the Brethren.

Flawn and Nancy were married for nearly 64 years. They built a life filled with faith and family, primarily in Elkhart where they raised three daughters.

Flawn began his career with Lazarus Department Stores in Columbus, Ohio before joining Richardson Homes based in Elkhart. After brief stints with Richardson's in Shelby, North Carolina and Plant City, Florida, they settled back home in Elkhart in 1974. He then joined Bock Industries, subsequently purchased by Bull Moose Tube.

Flawn was an intelligent, kind, and dependable manager at Bock/Bull Moose Tube for over 34 years before retiring in 2008.

He was also a Sunday School teacher, church board chairman, and deacon at Union Center.

He was always ready to fix anything and lend a helping hand.

Surviving Flawn is his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Nancy, Carmel; daughters, Susan (Richard) Daly, Lake Forest, Illinois and Coral Gables, Florida; Lisa (Bob) Fowler, Westfield, Indiana; and Kelly (Luke) Wessel, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Tynan Daly, San Francisco, California; Shane Daly and fiancée, Gemma Sahwell, Boston, Massachusetts; Leo, Eli and Owen Wessel, Indianapolis; stepgrandchildren, Jason (Erica) Fowler, Carmel; Chelsey Fowler, Noblesville; step great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Griffin Fowler, Carmel; and brother, Dana (Cathy) Sailor, Elkhart; brother-in-law, Tom (Nancy) Mishler, Nappanee; along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Blanche and Charles Sailor; his stepmother, Marguerite (Gardner) Sailor; his siblings, Elsie Keifer Goodsene, Clyde Sailor, Virgil Sailor, Ernest Sailor, Richard Sailor, Leon Sailor, and twin sister, Fay High.

Family and friends may pay their respects during two hours of visitation starting at 1:00 p.m., preceding the funeral service at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Union Center Church of the Brethren, 70673 CR 11, Nappanee, Indiana 46550.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to Union Center COB, Camp Alexander Mack, or the American Heart Association.
