Eugene A. Alleshaski, 88, passed peacefully Wednesday evening June 8.
Eugene was born Sept. 28, 1927 in Chicago, to Anton A. and Frances (Lewandowski) Alleshaski.
On May 19, 1951, he married Marie Francis in Chicago. She survives along with three children, Dave of Elkhart, Carol (Dennis) Kelly of Manassas, Virginia, and Nancy (David) Bradley of Fredericksburg, Virginia; granddaughter, Camille (Tom) Esmacher of Chicago; and two wonderful great-grandchildren, Luke and Nicholas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dennis.
Eugene graduated from Lane Technical School in Chicago.
He served in the U.S. Army, 18th Regiment, from 1946 to 1948.
In 1951, he moved with his loving wife from Chicago to Elkhart.
He was employed for 36 years with Federal Paperboard, retiring in 1988. He was treasurer of Teamsters Local 1049.
He farmed for years, growing everything from sweet corn to strawberries.
Funeral services will take place Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart. There will one hour of visitation prior to the funeral.
Burial will follow the funeral at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart, where the Elkhart Disabled American Veterans and South Bend Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites.
