Erma J. Swartzendruber Stutzman, 81, died Friday, Jan. 18, at Goshen Hospital after battling Alzheimer's since 2013.

She was born Aug. 23, 1937, in Sturgis, Michigan, to Alfred and Arie (Slabach) Kauffman.

On May 14, 1961, she married Cecil Swartzendruber in Goshen. He died Jan. 24, 2011.

On Dec. 14, 2013, she married Melvin Stutzman.

He survives along with a daughter, Debra (Shane) Gascho, Mount Pleasant, Michigan; two sons, Roger (Kami) Swartzendruber and Jeff Swartzendruber, both of Goshen; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Lanfear, Atlanta, Georgia; and three brothers, Steve (Nila) Kauffman, Goshen, Nelson Kauffman, LaGrange, and Ron (Jane) Kauffman, Howe.

Mrs. Stutzman worked as a bookkeeper for her first husband's business, Cecil's Heating and Cooling. She enjoyed reading, sightseeing and long, get-away weekends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Pleasant View Church, Goshen. Pastors Tyler Hartford and Ron Diener will officiate.

Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Jefferson Food Pantry or Pleasant View Church.
