Donna Jean Martin, age 69 of Wakarusa, IN, passed away on Monday morning, December 23, 2024 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 1, 1955 in Goshen, IN to William O. and Ruby (Miller) Miller. Donna was a 1973 graduate of NorthWood High School and went on to attend Ft. Wayne Business School for one year and later obtained her Bachelor's Degree in nursing from Bethel College. She lived her entire life in the Nappanee and Wakarusa area and on September 14, 1974 she married Terry Martin at the Wakarusa Missionary Church. Donna worked as a nurse for many years. She worked as an OR nurse at both Elkhart General Hospital and Goshen General Hospital before retiring in 2021 from the Elkhart Clinic where she was the director of informatics. In her retirement, Donna volunteered at the Elder Haus in Nappanee. Donna was a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church where she loved working in Kid's Ministry and was an active member in the Faith Builders Sunday School Class. Donna and Terry had previously attended the Wakarusa Missionary Church, where Donna served in many different capacities including singing, directing the Kid's Choir, and serving as youth sponsor. Donna's faith was important to her and she loved writing in her journal. She enjoyed scrapbooking in her craft room and often joined with family and friends to work together for hours at a time. Donna enjoyed camping with family and friends and she especially doted on her two dogs, Ricky and Lucy. Most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and loved supporting them in their many activities. Donna is survived by her husband of 50 + years, Terry Martin of Wakarusa; 2 children, Matt (Josi) Martin of Warsaw, IN and Mindi (Dustin) Mattern of Bremen, IN; 3 grandchildren; Charlie, Brennan, and Miranda Mattern; a sister, Diane Yoder of Michigan; and a brother, Larry (Pam) Miller of Berry, KY. Donna was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 2-4; and 6-8 pm at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel (Enter Door H) and from 9-10 am on Saturday, December 28, 2024 in the Nappanee Missionary Church Worship Center (Enter Door A). A funeral service will begin at 10 am on Saturday with Pastor Jason Rohde of the Nappanee Missionary Church officiating. Burial will follow in Union Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Donna's name can be given to the Nappanee Elder Haus.
