Goshen, IN - Derek Lynn Bontrager, 7-year-old son of Ervin and Kristine (Miller) Bontrager, of Goshen, (district:67), died at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at the scene of a pony cart/automobile accident.

He was born on Sept. 5, 2018, in Goshen.

Survivors in addition to his parents are three siblings, Lily Esther, Janae Elaine, and Adrian Joel Bontrager, all at home; grandparents, Laverne and Miriam Bontrager of Shipshewana and Glen and Ida Miller of Goshen; great-grandma, Ida Mae Bontrager of Shipshewana; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Ervin Bontrager, Ora and Ada Nisley, Freeman and Edna Miller, and Henry and Elizabeth Schlabach; two stillborn cousins, Lucas Allen Bontrager and Jeremiah Lynn Bontrager.

Derek attended Country Meadow School and was in the 1st grade.

Visitation was after 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, and all day, Sunday, Feb. 22, at the family's residence, 12653 State Road 4, Goshen.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, also at the family's residence. Services were conducted by Bishop John Stoltzfus and the home ministers of the Old Order Amish Church.

Burial site is Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.
