Delbert L. Miller


Delbert L. Miller, 83, New Paris, died 9 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Burr Oak, Michigan, to John E. and Ella Mae (Yoder) Miller.
On Oct. 19, 1962, he married Josie (Slaven) Miller.
Surviving are his wife, Josie, New Paris; daughter, Cathy S. (Richard) Looney, Bourbon, Missouri; grandsons, Richard Leroy (Sharice) Looney, Bourbon, Missouri, and Dwayne (Heidi) Looney, Potosi, Missouri; and a great-grandson, Thaddaeus Looney.
Preceding him in death were his parents and eight siblings, Sylvanus Miller, Marie Darrenkamp, Eli Miller, Ruby Kull, Mary Miller, Lonnie Miller, Roman Miller and Lena Fry.
Delbert was a 1954 graduate of New Paris High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 and in the reserves from 1961-1965.
He worked at Miles, Excel Rubber, Triangle Rubber and Goshen Rubber, retiring in 2000. Delbert enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He baby-sat for his great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m., with the service following at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen.
Delbert's grandson, Pastor Dwayne Looney, and nephew, Pastor Caleb Reed, will officiate. Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Goshen Hospital Hospice.
