ELKHART - David Earl Shreiner, 78, of Elkhart, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at his residence.

He was born July 24, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Lee and Geraldine Alice (Vernier) Shreiner.

On August 29, 1964, he married Nancy May Morris.

She survives along with four daughters, Leeann B. Shreiner-Evans of Elkhart, Lori L. (Jerome) Austin of Jacksonville, Florida, Geri A. (Jim) Bradford of Granger, Indiana, Jamie L. (Mark) Nathaniel of Goshen, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Linda (Gary) Longerbon of Elkhart, Marylee (Jim)Trafford of Orland, Indiana, and Gail (Bob) Warfel of Bristol, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his furry friend, Bruno the dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two nephews, Brian Shreiner and Robert Morris: mother-in-law, Pearl Morris; and 2 brothers-in-law, George Morris and Charles Morris.

David graduated in 1960 from Elkhart High School and graduated in 1964 from Tri-State University (now Trine) in Angola with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He was a member of Sigma Phi Delta Fraternity, a member of AWANA, enjoyed fixing and building things, cooking, recycling and loved swimming and nature. But most of all he loved to spend time with his loving family. He also was a deacon for many years at the churches he attended.

David worked for US Steel and retired as a plumber in 2014.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home (masks are required). His Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Phil Waite from the College Mennonite Church in Goshen will preside and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Faith Mission in Elkhart.
