LaGrange, IN - Danny Thomas Rasler, 66, of LaGrange, died at his home on Saturday, May 17.

Danny was born on July 17, 1958, in LaGrange, to C. Eugene, Sr. and Alice W. (Wilson) Rasler.

At 4 years old, he became deathly sick with a kidney disease and encephalitis (in the 1960's most people died from this).

In his younger years, he forecasted weather with the cloud chart. He was a weather watcher for WSBT Channel 22 in South Bend; and Sam Scammon, the meteorologist, called him twice, using his name on the news. He hated to be called Earl Finkel from WOWO.

He was a 1978 graduate of Lakeland High School.

Danny loved anything Coca-Cola and had to have his one Coke a day.

He would often be found outside with his binoculars watching the birds and the clouds in the sky.

After his mother died, Barbara Foote stayed on to be his best friend and caretaker for six years.

Surviving are three sisters, Barbara Dickey of Shippensburg, PA, Julie Rasler of LaGrange, and Mary (Kenneth) Kilgore of Markleville, IN; two brothers, Greg (Sandie) Rasler of LaGrange, and David (Carrie) Rasler of Convoy, OH; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding Danny in death were his parents; a brother, C. Eugene Rasler, Jr; a brother-in-law, Rev. Dr. M. Dayle Dickey; and a niece, Amy Rasler.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the service time at 2:00 p.m., at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN.

Pastor Jim Fearnow will officiate the services.

Burial will follow at Lake Bethel Cemetery in rural LaGrange.
