Cleo L. Yonkers, 88, Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, at Greenleaf Health Campus.

She was born June 2, 1928, in Elkhart, to Chester R. and Una B. (Burket) Myers.

On June 29, 1947, she married Robert R. Yonkers in Elkhart. He preceded her in death Aug. 27, 2006, in Elkhart.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Dan Greenawalt) Yonkers, Vickie (Paul) Pennington and Catherine (Rex) Braddock; six grandchildren, Lori (Tony Renzi) Rhodes, Valia (Reza Pejuhesh) Yonkers, Christopher (Christy) Braddock, Lucas (Patty) Braddock, Jessalea (Noah) Shaver and Richard Braddock; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Goldie (Dale) Roher of Downers Grove, Illinois. Also surviving is her beloved cat, Butterscotch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; children, Peggy and Robert Jr.; grandchildren, Michelle, Shawn and JoAnn; and siblings, Ruth, Robert, Russell, Clyde and Georgia.

Cleo enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doing crafts, playing bingo and playing the piano. She attended the JOY Adult Program at the Goshen Salvation Army.

Cleo and her husband owned Elkhart Septic and Plumbing for 24 years, retiring in 1983. She also was a cake decorator for more than 40 years.

A celebration of life service for Cleo will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the cabin of Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. Pastor Dale Roher, Cleo's brother-in-law, will preside. Cleo's favorite color was pink and the family requests that all attending her service wear pink to honor her.

Private burial will take place Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.

Cleo's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Greenleaf Health Campus for all the love and support they gave to Cleo. Also a special thank you goes out to all of Cleo's friends at the JOY Adult Program at the Goshen Salvation Army.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Goshen Salvation Army.
