Goshen, IN - Charles Duane Cross, 78, of Goshen, passed away peacefully at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, at his residence.

He was born on March 2, 1948, in Elkhart, to George J. and Verna (Weldy) Cross.

On Jan. 1, 1967, in Pinckney, Michigan, he married Agnes Brubacher. She survives.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Duane (Verba) Cross of Donalds, SC/Jamaica, Glen (Nicky) Cross of Goshen; daughter, Bernita (William) Bredow of Goshen; four grandchildren, Brittany (Jeremy) Hershberger, Jaymi (Heidi) Cross, Cameron (Esther) Cross, Carrington (Michelle) Cross; four great-grandchildren, Brielle Hershberger, Tenley Hershberger, Maverick Hershberger, Percival Cross; sister, Carol Day of Middlebury; three brothers, David (Martha) Cross of Goshen, Lavern (Rosalyn) Cross of Middlebury, Dean (Coleen) Cross of Milford, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brent Cross; two great-grandchildren, Amani Cross and Rhys Cross; his parents; and sister, Sharon Bontrager.

Charles was a truck driver for many years and was the co-owner of George J. Cross and Sons Trucking.

He later worked delivering parts for A & R Machine Shop and most recently was an Amish taxi driver.

Charles was a singer and enjoyed his time singing with Covenant Choir and the Living Water Quartet.

He loved John Deere tractors.

His family meant the world to him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Monday May 25, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury.

There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, May 26, at Pleasant View Church, 58529 Co Rd 23, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastors Ed Arnold and Jim Brown.

Burial will be in Frame Cemetery, Elkhart.

Memorials may be given to Jamaica Relief Ministries.
