Betty Jean (Weaver) Bush, 90, Goshen, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, March 14, at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.

She was born May 11, 1927, in Elkhart, to Melvin and Ocea (Shaw) Weaver.

She married Wilkie L. Bush Sr., Dec. 10, 2005, in Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ocea Weaver; her previous husband, Ted Broadbent; son, David, in 2001; sisters, Carol K. Weaver, Thelma Everts, Evelyn Kennedy and Edna Koontz.

She is survived by her husband Wilkie L. Bush Sr.; stepson, Wilkie (Esther) Bush Jr., Goshen; sister-in-law, Grace Stonehouse, Venice, Florida; sister-in-law, Darlene Bush, Mentor, Ohio; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Sena, Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Keith (Somia Mourad) Bush, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Craig (Leanne) Bush, Granger, Emily Wize, Birmingham, Michigan, George (Rachael) Bush, Nappanee, Caroline (Terry) Aukeman, Winona Lake, and Kurt (Chasity) Bush, Blissfield, Michigan.

Also surviving are 12 great-grandchildren; nephews, James (Phyllis) Everts, Venice, Florida, Ramon (Regine) Everts, Wilmington, North Carolina, David Everts, Coatesville, Gary Everts, Elkhart, Tom (Judy) Everts, Orange, California, Phillip (Phyllis) Kennedy, Larry (Kate) Kennedy, both of Indianapolis, Bill (Grace) Koontz, Coral Springs, Florida, Mike (Ruthann) Koontz, Augusta, South Carolina; nieces, Marilyn Groves, Bloominton, Jane (Kennedy) Finn, Cincinnati, Ohio, Linda (Kennedy) Bates, St. Petersburg, Florida, Kathy (Kennedy) (Dennis) Davidson, Indianapolis, and Stephanie (Koontz) (Ron) Plummer, Biloxi, Mississippi.

Betty graduated from Elkhart High School in 1945 and from the University of Nebraska in 1949. She worked as a registered medical technologist at the South Bend Medical Foundation and Elkhart General Hospital. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Goshen and the Mr. and Mrs. Club.

Betty loved Jesus, nature, music and traveling. She was an accomplished violinist with the Elkhart High School Orchestra, played the piano and organ and enjoyed listening to her favorite music. She was born with a green thumb; she loved working in her flower gardens raising unusual plants and flowers. She spent many hours creating family photo albums.

Funeral services for Betty will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Faith United Methodist Church, Goshen. Pastor John Hogsett will preside. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Hospice or to the Faith United Methodist Church.
