Goshen, IN - Barbara Lee (McAllister) Hay, 92, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away, Wednesday, Nov. 12, at her son's home surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on Jan.14, 1933 in Coalinga, California to Edmund W. and Freddie (Wilkins) McAllister.
While attending Colorado College, Barbara met her future husband, John C. Hay, from Goshen. They graduated and were married on June 10, 1956. Barbara and John shared a devoted marriage of 49 years before John's passing in 2005.
The couple was blessed with three children and spent 26 years living in Venezuela, where John worked as a Petroleum Geologist and Barbara taught school. They retired in 1983 to Goshen and Lake Wawasee.
Barbara leaves behind the light of her life, her family: daughter, Marisa (Mark) Podgorski, Goshen; and sons, John (Marcene) Hay, Houston, Texas and Christopher (Mary) Hay, South Bend.
She is also survived by 12 wonderful grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Very important in her life were her extended family and dear friends.
Last but not least were her loyal four-footed companions.
As requested, Barbara will be cremated and buried June 6, 2026 at noon in a private ceremony at Violett Cemetery, next to her beloved husband and parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be directed to Goshen Health Foundation or Ascent Hospice.
