Amos J. Miller, 85, of Shipshewana, died at 9:39 am, on Monday, March 17, at his residence. He was born on June 13, 1939, in Topeka, to John U. and Susan (Bontrager) Miller. On October 23, 1958, in Jamesport, MO, he married Susie Ann Miller, she died June 8, 1996; then on May 1, 1999, in Goshen, he married Betty Jean (Yoder) Wheeler, she died November 2, 2022. Surviving are five children, Sarah Ann Miller of Maple Grove, MN, Jerry Ray Miller of Shipshewana, Linda Fern Kindrex of Wynne, AR, Sue Ellen (Troy) White of Nappanee, Amos Lavern (Beth) Miller of Elkhart; stepdaughter, Miriam Jean (Joey) Hefflinger of Molalla, OR; nine grandchildren, Liz, Kyle, Brittany, Jennifer, Alisa, Caleb, Kaden, Ean, and Milo; eight great-grandchildren, Colton, Makenna, Zoey, Alice, Havoc, Aidan, Arabell, and Annaleigh; three brothers, twin Andy S. (Brenda) Miller of Little Rock, AR, Johnny Jr. Miller of Vermontville, MI, Jonathon (Bridget) Miller of Monroe City. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susie Ann Miller and second wife, Betty Jean Miller; parents; infant sister, Saloma Miller; two brothers, Ezra and Emanuel Miller. Later in life after getting married, Susie and Amos helped a mission become a self-supporting church named Wasepi Mennonite Church in Michigan. When they moved to Indiana 13 years later, the church had 126 members. Amos was a member of Townline Mennonite Church. He was involved in the RV industry for 45 years. He loved camping and traveling. He hauled the Amish for 3 1/2 years after his first wife passed away. Amos never met a stranger and received many blessings by making people laugh. This in turn made him happy too. Amos passed away peacefully as he was ready to go to heaven to meet his first wife Susie, his second wife Betty and many other loved ones. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, March 21 at Townline Mennonite Church, 2165 S. 1000 W., Shipshewana. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Saturday, March 22 at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Dean Yoder. Family and friends may gather later Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm for a graveside service at Union Center Cemetery, 25409 CR 50, Nappanee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to IAFR- Jonathan House at https://iafr.org/projects/jonathan-house. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is assisting the family with arrangements.
