Amos S. Bontrager Obituary
Goshen, IN - Amos S. Bontrager, 83, of Goshen, died at 10:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 5 at his residence, after an extended battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born on May 3, 1942, in Centreville, Michigan, to Samuel and Fannie (Bontrager) Bontrager.
On Nov. 8, 1964, in Sturgis, Michigan, he married Lillian Yoder. She survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are daughter, Brenda (Gene) Troyer of Goshen; son, Jason (Melana) Bontrager of Everett, Washington; six grandchildren, Cody (Morgan) Troyer, Morgan (Austin) Bencsics, Culver Bontrager, Hollis (Diana) Bontrager, Opal Bontrager, Verona Bontrager; five great-grandchildren; sister, Edna (Tobe) Yoder of North Vernon, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and five sisters.
Amos was a member of Living Hope Christian Fellowship.
He was the owner/operator of White Pigeon Auction Barn (1969 - 1976) and Bontrager Realty while the family lived in White Pigeon, Michigan.
After moving to Indiana, Amos continued the auction profession and also began cabinet installation.
An avid golfer and a card shark, "Famous Amos" brought craziness and laughs wherever he went.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12 and 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at Fairhaven Church, 13513 State Road 4, Goshen.
There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, April 14, at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Jason Miller, Gene Troyer, and Ruben Chupp.
Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorials may be given to Living Hope Christian Fellowship.
