Ruth E. Miller, 68, Bristol, passed away Wednesday, April 5, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Aug. 21, 1948, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Perry "Jay" and Emily (Gallegos) Andrews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Miller; grandson, Tyler Miller; and brother, Larry Andrews.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew (Jana) Miller, Elkhart, and Douglas Miller, Chesterton; daughter, Kristy (Erik) Moberg, Goshen; sister, Betty (Larry) Sterpka, Brimfield, Ohio; two grandchildren, Gavin Miller, Valparaiso, and Zoe Miller, Elkhart.
Family and friends were a passion of Ruth. She made every person she met feel as though they were a part of her family. She will always be known for putting everyone before herself, including her beloved dogs, Casey, Bandit and Harley. She was 100 percent dedicated to everyone and everything they did.
She held an unbreakable passion for her grandchildren Tyler, Gavin, and Zoe. They were what kept her going and she would use every hour of the day if she could to make them happy. Her grandkids were her true treasures in life.
You will not meet a harder worker than Ruth Miller. Over the years, she worked at Doors Plus, Will Pak and Phillips 66, where she was loved and respected by all she worked with.
You usually would find her cooking or baking. Ten people could show up unexpectedly and there would be leftovers every time.
She loved being outside. She had a knack for arranging flowers and enjoyed sitting outside reading her Amish love stories.
Another passion she held was volunteering. She loved working with her daughter's third-graders at Elementary School, who lovingly called her grandma.
Ruth was a Cleveland Browns fanatic! This caused yearly disappointment, but never wavered her excitement about the next game or season. She was loyal to her teams, but even more loyal to her family and friends.
Her constant encouragement, wisdom and wise cracks will be missed by everyone who knew her.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. A graveside service will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County in memory of Ruth.
