Richard J. Frey, 66, Topeka, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 8, 1950, in LaGrange County, to Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Bontrager) Frey.
On March 6, 1969, in LaGrange County, he married Barbara Miller, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, LaVera (Jerry) Fry and Loranna (Darrin) Lehman, both of Topeka; five sons, Dale (Betty) Frey and LaVern (Sara) Frey, both of Shipshewana, Richard (Marlene) Frey Jr., Topeka, Gerald (Jane) Frey and Delmar (Anna) Frey, both of Millersburg; 29 grandchildren; five sisters, Lydia Mae (Clarence) Miller, Chouteau, Oklahoma, Mary Ellen (Freddie) Miller, Millersburg, Edna (Freeman) Schlabach and Wilma Bontrager, both of Shipshewana, and Katie (Wilbur) Lehman, Topeka; brother, Freeman (Wilma) Frey, Middlebury; and two sisters-in-law, Lydia Frey, Goshen, and LeEtta Frey, Millersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Elizabeth Fry; two brothers, Daniel and Mervin Frey; and brother-in-law, Orva Bontrager.
Richard was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, and all day Thursday, April 20, at the family residence, 515 W. Lake St., Topeka.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, at the Daniel Mishler residence, 7380 W. 650 South, Topeka. Services will be conducted by Bishop Ernest E. Bontrager and the home ministers.
Burial will be at Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.
Arrangements are with Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury.
