Richard "Dick" A. Derstine, 70, died of natural causes Tuesday, June 5, at his residence.
He was born April 2, 1947, in Souderton, Pennsylvania, to Titus H. and Eva E. (Sell) Derstine.
He is survived by a sister, Ruth Wenger, Akron, Pennsylvania; and nieces, Tonya Wenger, Ann (Jon) Whipple, and Carla (Dennis) Vicidomini; as well as his honorary family, Richard and Patricia Geiser, Christy (Howard) Cordell and Tracy (Kevin) Paulus. He leaves behind many other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Mary Ellen Wile; and brother-in-law, Sam Wenger.
Dick was a 1965 graduate of Souderton High School. He moved to Goshen in 1968 to attend Goshen College. He worked for Troyer Poultry as a truck driver for many years and then retired from Viking Products.
He was a member of First Brethren Church of New Paris. His hobbies included farming, being a collector and volunteering his time at the local Republican office.
He was a genuine and lovable man that would give you the shirt off his back while, at the same time, argue with you about the color of said shirt. He was a cherished friend that will be missed by many.
