Rebecca "Meme"'s Story
Rebecca "Meme" J. Carroll, 71, died Friday at Goshen Hospital.
She was born Oct. 23, 1945, in Elkhart to Fredrick "Fritz" and Clara (Weaver) VonBlon.
Survivors include six children, Larry (Sun) Staton, Cromwell, Lisa Hopkins, Goshen, Penny (Lowell) Klett, Middlebury, Teresa (Kelvin) Williams, Goshen, Rebecca (Guy) Staples, Larwill, and Cathy Staton, Goshen; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Fred (Pat) VonBlon, Millersburg, Nelda (Dennis) Steele, New Paris, Carolyn Shetler, Goshen, Randy Brubaker, Daytona Beach, Florida, and Ted DeAubrey, San Antonio, Texas.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Wallace, and brothers, Mel VonBlon and Steve Brubaker.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Carroll was a member of Prairieview Missionary Church.
Her greatest loves in life were her children, grandchildren and family. She enjoyed putting puzzles together with family and friends. She had a special love for her job at KMC Controls and her co-workers.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Wednesday funeral service will be held. Pastor Phil Jerome will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
