Miriam "Mim" June Cavender, 81, Elkhart, passed away in the early morning of Monday, April 24.
She was born June 3, 1935, to Everett and Mardas (Miller) Hollar in New Paris. She attended Milford High School.
On Nov. 27, 1952, she married Richard "Dick" Cavender in South Bend.
Mim delighted in baking, cooking and dinner times with family, friends and neighbors.
As a young woman, Mim traveled the United States, excelled in modeling and quietly fostered an undiscovered artistic ability.
Later in life, she enjoyed reuniting with Milford High School friends for dinner and the sharing of the stories of old. Of all the places she'd been, she began to favor the places that held her family. Of all the activities Mim enjoyed, she became to love most being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sister, Marla (Al) Hedstrom; daughter, Teri (Kurt) Lennon; son, Jeff Cavender; grandchildren, Shawn (Brandi) Scott, Autumn Walton and Bryan Cavender; stepgrandchild, Christy Lennon; great-grandchildren, Drake, Ali, Emilia, Chelsee and Rayne; and her brother, Max Hollar.
In addition to her parents, Mim was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, who passed away in 2000. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Keith Hollar, and her dear friend, Helen Bayman.
Elkhart Cremation Services are entrusted with Mim's arrangements. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life service and luncheon at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at the DiLoreto Club, located at 914 N. Division St., Mishawaka. P.J. Perry of the Hero's Camp will officiate.
